halfs on the horizon {fun facts friday 1.11}

Okay, I’ve decided to do it. I’m going to have a training plan and stick to it. This will require discipline I haven’t had in the past (taking rest days when needed, too much mileage…) and will be difficult for me. As my first fun fact of the day, I’m unveiling my training plan.

1. Da da daaaaa! Here it is. I’ll have to switch up a couple of the days in the upcoming simply because I have events I can’t miss out on, but I plan on sticking to this. I’m excited and hope to see improvement. Oh, since clearly the races are sooner than 12 weeks away (yikes!) I’ll start out during one of t the later weeks. Hopefully that doesn’t bomb my training.

And, yes. I went back and forth on whether or not I should do intermediate or advanced. I chose advanced because the plans are very similar save a few longer runs. I know I’m capable of these…plus I just like the challenge. P.S. it really bothers me that the image is so large. White space ain’t my friend in this case.

2. Costco has everything I need to take back to school. Oatmeal + peanut butter. Don’t think I’ll be needing those for a while.

3. Pippa and I had a lovely walk yesterday. Of course, I Instagrammed a picture of us. After my walk, I realized that the majority of my break has been spent forcing my dog to take pictures with me. Pathetic? I think not.

4. Wave Inspires are my new babies. I felt like I was wearing those creepy toe shoes, minus the creepiness.

5. Tomorrow, I’m meeting up with my DC blogging buddies, Allison, Alex, and Molly. After countless e-mails back and forth, I’m way too excited!

6. Chobani banana is the greatest new flavor. Especially when paired with Chex. #snacktime

7. Oranges are fabulous salad toppers. Yesterday’s beast:

The breakdown…I don’t really measure things out because, frankly, I’m too hungry to grab a measuring cup.

  • 1 chopped chicken breast
  • 1 sliced orange
  • 1 small sliced pear
  • a couple handfuls of Craisins
  • small handful of walnuts
  • chopped green onion
  • 1/4 cup cottage cheese
  • TJ’s Cilantro dressing

It was delicious and WAY too big for that bowl. I spilled on myself, which seems to be a frequent occurrence these days. Likely due to my couch potato life. Weee! I’m off. TGIF?!

I’m going to be the annoying little sister for a minute so bear with me. WAHHHHHHHHHH I wish I was back in bmore so I could go too :( Like you have no idea!!! I don’t want to wait 9 whole weeks for this! But anyways, you guys are going to have a blast and I’m so excited for you!!
Oh, and your shoes. Definitely not creepy. Epic.

  3. Alex @ therunwithin

I want to live at costco, I haven’t gone in over a year but I know if I did go I would be in heaven. darn not being closer to one! I like the plan, way to go on finding one that will work for you and wanting to stick with it. Shoes… oh glorious shoes

That is one fantastic looking salad beast! I love fruit and craisins on my salad, too. :) They’re a must. I also have a complete obsession with Costco. I could spend an entire afternoon walking around, browsing, and sampling until my heart’s content.

I love posts like this (clearly, since I do them every week haha)! I need to join Costco…we are doing so as soon as Joe comes home…and that chicken looks amazing!! HAve a blast with the blends tomorrow!! With you guys in spirit :)

That’s so great that you decided to go with a training plan this time around, it’ll be fun to see how it goes! I love Costco (and that scene in Modern Family when Cam says ‘the more you spend the more you save!’ hilarious), and that picture of you and your dog is too cute!

  7. Amanda @ .running with spoons.

That salad. Holy.wow does it ever look good. And just so you know, the mark of a good salad is whether or not it spills over the bowl ;) Have you ever tried adding apple, cantaloupe, or mango to your salad? Those are some other fruity favorites of mine.

Props to your for coming up with a training plan! I have always been a little scared to follow a training plan by myself, but I think having the support of fellow running blends would be so helpful AHHH I need to try the new Banana Chobani! I’ve tried the dark chocolate & coffee flavor and it is fab, but haven’t been able to find any other flavors yet :(

I honestly think that training plan is going to take you to a whole different level and you are really going to drop some time on your half. I really cannot wait to hear how it goes! :-)

  10. Allison @ Life's a Bowl

Way to go girl, you’re gonna beast that training plan, I have faith ;) I definitely think it’s helped me to stay on track with my training, as well as helped me to not over-train [rest days = recovery/ rebuild days, easy days allow for stronger long days]! I cannot wait to meet you for blunch in a bit, although your salad beast looks delic- maybe we should all head over to your house haha!

  11. Chelsie S

Can’t wait to meet you (sooooo jealous about your meet up today!!) and to run with you girl!!! That plan looks fabulous. I think that you’re going to rock it and can’t wait to be out on that course with you!!
